Traditionally, medical practitioners of both East and West have used turmeric for its healing properties. It s antioxidant, digestive, anti-inflammatory, anti-platelet, cholesterol-lowering make turmeric a potentially potent drug in the treatment and prevention of many diseases.

Turmeric possesses anti-inflammatory properties, agent beneficial for arthritis and other inflammatory conditions such as dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation), asthma, infections, eczema, psoriasis and other injuries. It is advisable to use turmeric in combination with more analgesic herbs for relief.

It also contains curcumin, which is disease-fighting agent.

Traditional Ayurvedic medicine (TAM) recommends an internal dosage of a 10-20ml infusion and/or 1-3 grams of powder. A heaped teaspoon of powdered turmeric can be mixed with water and drunk two or three times a day as treatment for the below conditions.

Can be used by those suffering from cardiovascular disease, or increased risk such as smokers or those with high choleterol.

As a preventative for individuals exposed to higher than normal levels of carcinogens or those considered to be at a risk of developing cancer, like workers in the chemical industry etc.

Turmeric is believed to be a stimulant. Take equal quantities of turmeric powder, pepper and rock salt along with glass of orange juice is believed to prevent excessive tiredness.

Turmeric, when mixed with neem oil and applied on the skin, acts as an excellent anti-infective agent in treating chronic

ulcers, bed sores, scabies, ringworm, psoriasis, eczema etc. The turmeric is to be heated in the neem oil before application. Alternatively you can apply a paste of turmeric mixed with onion juice.
